Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a method of resurfacing the skin. By inducing a controlled wound to the skin, chemical peels replace part or all of the epidermis and induce collagen remodeling, which helps to improve photodamage, fine wrinkles, rough texture, pigmentation abnormalities, acne, and mild scarring.
Glycolic Acid Peels (30-I, 40-I, and 70-I)
Glycolic acid (alpha-hydroxy acid) is a group of naturally occurring acids which are derived from certain plants and fruits. The most commonly used form of alpha-hydroxy acids work by stimulating new growth of skin and collagen by decreasing the bond that holds dead skin cells on the surface. This allows dead cells to be removed gradually, leaving behind a layer of smoother and softer skin. The peel procedure takes about thirty minutes. Typically, multiple peels are recommended at 2-3 week intervals to optimize the results.
Precision Peel
Precision peels combine glycolic acid, Resorcinol, a penetrating Retinyl enzyme and a liquid form of vitamin A. The peel penetrates deep into the dermis without producing any irritating and burning effects.
This peel combined with microdermabrasion delivers immediate results for tighter, glowing, and smoother-looking skin.
It is also very effective for acne prone and oily skin. A series of 4-5 treatments at 2-3 week intervals are recommended for best results. The cost of a peel with microdermabrasion is $125 per treatment.
Alpha Beta with HQ Peel
The Alpha Beta with HQ Peel combines lactic acid, scelicylic acid, kojic acid, Hydroquinone 2-1, citric acid, and ethyl alcohol and gives the benefits of both alpha- and betahydroxy acids.
The peel yields very good results for acne and pigmentation changes. A series of 5-6 treatments at 2-3 week intervals is recommended for best results.
The cost is $50 per peel. Combined with microdermabrasion for deeper penetrationo and better results, the cost is $125 per treatment.
At-home skin care
Too enhance the effects of chemical peels, Retinoic acids can be used daily at home to accelerate epidermal proliferation and improve skin texture with the shedding of dead cells.
Chemical peels and microdermabrasion combined with home care and the use of serums containing antioxidants, vitamin C and E, niacinamide, and some peptides can improve years of damage from environment chemicals, sun and natural aging. Adding enhanced laser skin rejuvination once or twice a year will make dramatic improvements to an aging face. This is called age management, not age defying, wiithout the complications, heavy expenses and down time of cosmetic surgery. The results are impressive and side effects are infrequent.
Microdermabrasion
What is it?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that evenly and safely exfoliates the skin without chemicals or lasers. Ultrapeel microdermabrasion uses crystals to gently resurface superficial, or outside, layers of the skin. When a more aggressive treatment is necessary, vacuum pressure can be increased to evenly penetrate deeper layers of the skin. With this advanced technology, you can receive customized micridermabrasion treatments to suit your specific skincare needs.
Who can benefit?
Microdermabrasion is right for all skin types. Microdermabrasion is right for you even if you have skin that is sensitive to chemicals or make up, or can’t take time off of work for a lengthy recovery period, or you want to resume your normal activities right away.
What are the benefits?
Microdermabrasion reduces the appearance of scarring, fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation problems, uneven skin tones, dull, lifeless and sun-damaged skin.
This treatment can also reduce the appearance of acne and acne scarring.
What is treatment like?
Microdermabrasion uses a mist of fine crystals in combination with vacuum suction to remove dead skin cells, revealing the new skin beneath. After the treatment, Dr. Ohri may apply a fortifying skin cream to further the results. Treatment takes approximately half an hour, and you can resume your normal activities immediately.
Is treatment painful?
At first, you may feel a very mild scratching sensation as the crystals make contact with the skin. As the treatments continue, this experience compares to a deep massage!
Are there side effects?
Mild redness may occur for a half an hour to one day depending on the aggressiveness of the program.
How can I start a microdermabrasion program?
First, you will have a consultation with Dr. Ohri, who will customize your program. You’ll then begin to follow your new skin care regimen, which will include a series (usually five or six) microdermabrasion treatments.
